The Poetic Quiddity
The Poetic Quiddity is a series of paintings created by BODHI in collaboration with T.hsirehc inspired by the philosophy of Art by the German Idealist philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770 - 1831) from his book, 'Lectures on Aesthetics (1818 - 1829)'.
The act to create paintings within this series itself is inspired by Hegel's assertion that the beauty of art is higher than that of nature as beauty is only in the subjective mind that contemplates and creates them rather than nature itself.
Within each painting, there are two different segments inspired by Hegel's theory on Art, with one segment with figurative depictions of wilting flowers and the other with abstraction based on said figurative depictions.
The juxtaposing figurative and abstract segment of each painting represents Hegel's theory that Art is the reconciliation between perceived reality and senses beyond perception, making Art an expression of the most comprehensive truths of the mind.
